Black and White Style III :: Stripes and Front Slit

DSCN3374
Hello lovelies!
Hope you had a great weekend. I was a bit sick, so you can imagine how mine went. Tried to rest as much as possible which actually helped. I definitely didn't let that stop me from opening my online shop (shopsixthlens.com) over the weekend. Opening day was a success and I'm excited and looking forward to what the futures holds. If you haven't visited the site yet, you should definitely go check It out. If you don't have a little girl to shop for, then you must know someone who does, so send the link to them or better yet, buy an item or two as gift :)

The third part of the White and Black series features a simple stripe dress with front slit. I love that the slit is modest and not too high making the dress wearable to church or work. Paired it with my white coat and black pumps to complete the look.
It must be a phase I'm going through with black and white because this series wasn't planned. There is one more post to come, and who knows if that will be the end of it.
Till then, have a great week.

Black and White Style II :: Stripes and Leather

DSCN3257 Hello lovelies!
Hope your week is going well so far. Mine is going ok. 7:30am meetings are bound to give you a very fun filled work week, right?! Soooo looking forward to the weekend, maybe I'll be able to catch up on sleep.

Did you see the post on my shop opening? If not go here. I'm super excited and can't wait to launch this weekend. Get ready to shop for your little one, or buy the perfect gift for a little one your love.

Here's part two of the Black and white series. If you've been following this blog long enough, you'll know I'm all about simplicity and understated elegance. This outfit entails both. Although I wore this to church on Sunday, I can easily see it as a date night outfit, a formal event outfit, or even a casual day outing outfit with a pair of flats. The top and skirt match so well, I can almost picture it as a dress. Are you getting the feeling that this is one of my favorite outfits so far this year because I am. Black and white doesn't have to be boring or look like a school uniform. Play with patterns, textures and cut and you might just get the perfect Black and White outfit.
So, when in doubt, go Black and  White.
Have  a great rest of the week.

Currently Loving: Newsboys - We Believe

Can't get enough of this song.
I feel like in the time we're in right now, this is a great soulful reminder of who we are and what we believe in as Christians. Also, a simplified way to easily minister to unsaved souls. It reassures your faith if it's shaken and I love how the songs briefly captures the crucifixion, resurrection and the coming back of Christ. I just find the song powerful and the message speaks volume. One of my favorites lines from the song:
"Let your faith be more than anthems.
Greater than the songs we sing".

Hope this picks up your spirit on this Almost Friday Day.

Enjoy!

Black and White Style I :: High Waisted Wideleg Pants

DSCN3332
Hello Loves! Hapy Monday!
Hope you had a nice weekend. The weather was beautiful, which made the weekend enjoyeable. I don't know what I've been doing differently but all of a sudden, my weekends don't feel cramped, short and lead to an exhausting Monday anymore. Despite the fact that we lost an hour this weekend. I'll have to put my fingers on what it is that I'm doing differently and keep doing it because I'm loving this feeling.

As I was preparing this post, I realized that the next two posts after this features black and white outfits also, so I decided to make it a mini series. This was by no means planned, just a coincidence.
Wideleg Pants are a favorite of mine. I just Love them and I don't think I have enough of them. Being that I'm not too tall, I can definitely appreciate the extra length it gives me amongst other things. Another one of my favorite is the pair featured here. I love this recent addition to my very small collection. It's highwaisted, extra long, free and has pockets. Functional, usable pockets! YES! This one is a complete piece.
For the first styling, I paired it with a black and white polka dots shirt. The pants itself is a statement, so pairing it with the same color tone truly lets it shine. I'm surely looking forward to pairing it with a colored shirt. The fact that it is black means it will match with just about any other color. To keep with the tone, I paired it with a black pump and pearl necklace for some extra boldness.
Are you a fan of wideleg pants or not?

Quinoa Beef Meatloaf

DSCN3234

One of my friends has been urging me to make this recipe for quite some time now and I've always had one excuse or the other. I have to say I was skeptical at first because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Even while making it, I still had my doubts. With the onions, I thought I might have to pick them out because I'm picky like that. With the brown sugar topping I thought it might be too sweet for a meaty meal, for me. And then, I was trying to figure out what to serve it, before it occurred to me that,I already have my protein, grain and veggie all in one.

At the end of the day, I have to say the end result smashed all my doubts and worries. I enjoy it and so did Mr. D. Looking forward to making it again. I think I'll try it with turkey next. Oh, and I'll highly recommend dicing your onions and carrot much smaller than I did. I think it will hold together better than the chunks I put in there. Lol. I couldn't wait to do it right the next time so I'm just going to share this with you.

I'm not a saucy person so this worked fine for me as it wasn't too dry. I didn't add any more sauce with the serving, but by all means if you love bbq sauce or any other kind, I'm sure it will be a nice topping/addition.

Leopard and Trench

DSCN3195
Hello lovelies! Happy Monday!
Hope you had a great weekend. I spent mine baby talking with Miss E., making her new headbands and bows and attended her first birthday party. While it was as usual a short weekend, I did not feel like it flew by, surprisingly. I feel like it was a fulfilled well rested weekend.

This is dress is one of those that will be a staple in my closet. It transitions well into all seasons. Paired with a long sleeve under or jacket over, it's great for the cold weather and just as is for the warmer weather. I paired it with my trench coat on a slightly warm winter day for this look. I love how the high neck of the dress compliments the collar of the jacket. Paired with a simple black pump to complete the look.
Have a great week everyone.
